So basically if you've ever found the most perfect fitting blouse or shirt, let me know where you got it and what was so great about it. If you want to be extra helpful you could also tell me a little bit about any problems you tend to have finding shirts that fit properly.
You can leave me a comment on this post, send me an email (beth[at]pretty-in-plus.com), send me a tweet or write it on my facebook wall. It’s all good!
At the end of the month I’ll write a post listing the most glowing reviews and telling you which stores got the most mentions. I’ll also add my own opinions to the mix. Hopefully what we’ll end up with is a perfect little guide for any plus-size girls who aren’t sure where to get their shirts, as well as some good tips for retailers on what we bigger girls are looking for when we shop for them.
So get reviewing, ladies!
Whose shirts or blouses get your stamp of approval?
I've tried what feels like everywhere and have NEVER found a shirt that fits me properly. I'm looking forward to this!
ReplyDeleteI am not really into shirts but I think the ones at Evans fit pretty well. :)

I don't do shirts, basically because my bust is too big for the rest of my body and they do not fit me! Even if they look loose and roomy on me, they will gape at the bust.
ReplyDeleteIf I did ever have to wear a shirt, the best place to buy would be www.bravissimo.com as they cut these with more room in the bust, BUT they only go up to a UK size 18 so are only for those on the very low beginning end of plus.
That said though, they do make them so that they are fitted in the body but with extra room at the bust, and they come in different sizes such as curvy, extra curvy etc. If they were to cater for bigger than an 18, then I reckon they would be the best place to buy a shirt, or a dress as they do the same with them too x
Wow, I'm also looking forward to this, as I've never, never, ever found a blouse to fit properly!
ReplyDeleteI'm a pear with a big bust and big arms. Anything that fits my hips/waist is usually too baggy in the bust. Ot it's too tight in the upper arms. Or the buttons strain over my boobs. If I find something that fits my bust, any fitting in the waist is too big and it looks like a sack.
Can't wait for some tips.
The best shirt I've ever ha was from Eddie Bauer, their 3/4 sleeve shirts are lovely. My usual problem is they cut plus size shirts very long.
ReplyDeleteJUst like some others I have big (and lovely ^^) boobs, but it always is a big problem. When I can close the buttons at the front, often the shoulder are much to wide for me.
ReplyDeleteBut I own a pretty good fitting checked shirt from evans, actually I never had problems with buttons up, shirts or whatever from Evans, they always have lots of space for my boobs :D
I also have big boobs and a big tummy and I find that most (but not all!) of the shirts from Ricki's fit me quite well.
ReplyDeleteI work in a office environment, so a nice oxford blouse is key to many of my favourite outfits.
ReplyDeleteMy challenge is finding something that shows off my curves, while still being professional. That means good darting and princess seams make a huge difference. Usually I have to add these in myself.
Ricki's seems to be one of the few stores that understand good structure for different body shapes. They don't go up very high, size wise (usually XXL or 18) but if you do fit those sizes, they usually have a good selection of styles and very bright colours (not just black, white, light blue) such as jewel tones. What I really like about their button up blouses is that at the bust they have hidden snaps between each button so your shirt doesn't look like it's bursting at the seams if you've got the goods.
I've also found some nice oxfords in the plus size section of Winners but not sure of any specific brand names.
I will second Ricki's as being great! I've gotten a lot of cute blouses in many colors, materials and styles. But yes, they only go to 18 or XXL. (The XXL seems to fit larger then 18 though?)
ReplyDeleteReitman's always has a selection of blouses. The down side is they're usually all the same stretchy type of material and style. Think they go from 1X-3X.
I never buy blouses. I always look matronly in them and I always have issues with gaping buttons. So I've given up. I'll be interested to see who comes out tops and maybe I'll given them another go.
