It was kind of a rush job I'm afraid, I didn't want to keep everyone waiting, so I tried on my favourite three. (NOTE: Today in Cardiff it was HOTTER THAN IN BARCELONA so that's the reason my face and hair are a hot damn mess!)
Flamingo Dress
The Flamingo dress was probably my favourite of the collection, that print is just too cute. I'm not convinced the colours are the best on me, but I do really love it.

When Em at Oh, the places you'll go tried this on she said she felt that the waist didn't hit her in quite the right place, and I felt the same way. With a belt I think it would look better. The other issue I had was that it was a little loose around the bust, as you can see in the second picture...

Sailboat Dress
I was in love with the print on the skirt of this sailboat dress but I assumed that the black top of it would wash me out - I don't tend to rock black. But I was pleasantly surprised with how this looked, my friend Rachel liked this one best on me.

My one criticism of it is that there's no zip in the side or the back, and there's no give in the material around the waist. It's easy to get into but I had a hard time escaping! Jo at Embrace your curves also said that she struggled with this.

Red Floral Dress
I've heard mixed reviews about the Red Floral Dress. I've heard complaints that the armholes are a bit weird, the bust doesn't fit quite right, the fit doesn't quite work. I didn't have any problems with the fit, but I did find it still looked kind of awkward on me. I think it's a toughie to pull off, and I didn't really manage it.

I actually quite like it on me in the pictures, but in person my friend Rach and I both agreed that it wasn't the dress for me. It's really beautiful in person, though. I think it would be absolutely perfect on a girl with a more pronounced hourglass shape who is less thick in the arms and shoulders.

So that's my review!
I didn't have time to try them all but I did try each shape of dress within the range. The dresses were all stunning in person, flowy and made with nice soft cotton that is just perfect for a summer day. I highly recommend!
If you'd like to hear some more opinions about the range, Em did a very detailed review where she tried on every single dress. Jo has bought the sailboat dress, and she's done a really good review of that.
I think I like the sailboat the best on you. very cute! thanks for sharing your review!
ReplyDeleteAww. I really wish I was back home in England to see, feel and try these dresses on myself. I love the red floral one, but even from just the photo on the website, I thought the arm holes were odd and wouldn´t flatter my arms, but with a little light weight cardy I think it would work on most women. I´m still not feeling the flamingo one. I think my fave - based on photos and peoples blogs - is the sailboat dress. The other thing I´m not sure about, is the pricing. Are they really worth 55 pounds each? :s xx
ReplyDeleteThat sailboat dress is SO CUTE! Wishing I lived on your side of the ocean :)
ReplyDeleteLove the sail boat dress on you...I really love the last one for me though. I wanna try it!
ReplyDeleteThe sail boat looks gorgeous on you! I was thinking of going for the red floral dress, but I'm quite thick in the arm area, so I'm gonna pass on that one. Overall great review hun :)

Im dissapointed to see the red floral one isnt fitting people right as i would love that one .
Lol, sailboat seems to be the general consensus.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments guys.
@Nik - Actually I really think you could pull off the red one. If you can't make it work then noone can!
@Rebequita - I think you're right, they are gorgeous but I don't think quality-wise they're worth the money. The quality is nice, but maybe not £55 nice. I think you're paying for the gorgeous prints - it's hard to find prints this pretty in plus sizes.
@Jo - Bumping into you would've been amazing! <3
I think the sail boat dress looks gorgeous on you and definately the best of the three.
ReplyDeleteThe flamingo print is gorgeous, but I thought you hadn't got it done up properly as it looked so loose on the bust!
xx Enjoy your hen weekend xx
I am still so excited mine will arrive on Tuesday or Wednesday and I am now a bit afraid that they won't fit thaaaat good....we will see.
ReplyDeleteI like the Sailor Boat Dress a lot on you but the Flaminog dress is also cute. Great Review!
I LOVE the sailboat dress on you Beth. It just looks so good! This is a great review and I think it is good, if interesting that we had some of the same reaction to the clothes... looking forward to hearing a positive one for the red dress - especially sine you, Lauren and I have all found it iffy!
ReplyDeleteI also love that you made it into Evans and did a blog post on your hen weekend! That's dedication! I hope you had a lovely time.

ReplyDeleteI'll add my two cents - sailboat for sure! It's adorable on you.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, sailboat is definitely a winner! And you're right, the red floral one looks great in the photos but I can imagine not being comfortable... There is hope though, I saw a fabulous lady out in London in the flamingo cap sleeve dress and she looked awesome!
