Nail Challenge: week one

Sorry things have been slow here lately. I'm expecting some new wardrobe arrivals at the moment so I should have a couple of outfits to share soon. In the mean time I thought I'd show you how I'm getting on with my challenge to quit biting my nails before I get married. I won't share my day one picture again because it's kind of awful, but you can go back a couple of entries if you'd like to see it.

DAY TWO:

Amazing what an emery board and a coat of strengthener can do, eh?
The strengthener I'm using is Sally Hensen's maximum growth, and I couldn't recommend it enough. I've had no cracks or splits or breakages at all so far.

DAY FOUR:

Rocking some girly pink, my first pop of colour. I'm not perfect at applying polish just yet (you can see the thumb went all smudgy), but I'm sure it'll come with practice.

DAY SIX:

Back to just the strengthener, but also rocking the Daisy Eve ring that I won from Em's giveaway at Oh, the places you'll go.

DAY EIGHT:

My favourite nail look so far - hopping on the minty green bandwagon.

So what have I learnt so far? First of all, painting your nails to look pretty makes you less likely to bite them. A good strengthener gives you strong healthy nails that won't split. Hand cream every day keeps your cuticles looking nice. Painting your nails is really kind of relaxing.

Now that they're getting longer, I'm much more aware of them so the temptation to bite them is growing, but hopefully I can keep this up!

  1. the admission of your (former!) nail biting habit only confirms for me that we are totally like, distant cousins or something haha

  4. I love this. I think we are both doing SO well. I have one, just ONE nail I have succumbed to - but it wasn't even a bad bite - and I managed to retain the whiteness of the tip... that means I've come a long way! You will find the strengthener will work wonders - my nails are so much stronger now... another cool thing I bought was this - http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk/_en/_gb/catalog/product.aspx?ParentCatCode=C_BathBody&CatCode=C_BathBody_HandsFeet&prdcode=27746m
Which I also love... You are doing great - keep it up!! x.

  9. I know this is an old post but I've just stumbled across your blog and have to say that I'm currently at a loose end over my nails! its been a compulsive habit to bite them and pick the cuticle skin since I was really young, I'm getting married in August and have been trying and failing to stop the habit for months now! I'm going to try that Sally Hansen product. Good luck on your mission anyway :)

  10. Well the big day is only 5 days off and my nails are longer than ever so my mission has worked out pretty well. The Sally Hansen stuff combined with the upcoming big day have really got the job done :D
