It started back when I was 8 years old. I had a mean violin teacher who would whip out a pair of scissors if she deemed them too long. Once she clipped mine so short that they bled, and from then I developed a habit of nibbling them off before lessons. And I've never stopped...until now!
That's right folks, I've set myself a challenge to break a 16 year old habit. Between today and my wedding (June 19th) I will not bite!

These are my challenge supplies:

Here's some nail inspiration from fellow bloggers:
- Georgina's adorable strawberry nails.
- Matron-Jo's pink leopard nails.
- Pretty well anything ever posted by Tav.
Hopefully soon I'll have cute nails like they do! I also have to give a big shout out to Em of Oh, the places you'll go who recently quit biting her nails too and has already given me a ton of help and support via twitter.
Wish me luck!
I'll post some updates soon to let you know how I'm getting on.
If you have any quitting advice or nail-care tips I'd love to hear them, I'm totally a rookie when it comes to this stuff.
Good luck! OPI Nail Envy also really helps with growing nails. :)

ReplyDeleteI have the opposite problem with my nails, I don't bite them but I like them short and they grow too fast!

Ohhhh boy....I wish I could do this. I am a horrible nail biter but I don't know if I could handle look at them in their "transition" phase haha

I used to be a biter.
ReplyDeleteHow did I stop? Well, I bought some expensive nail varnish and wore it every single damn day. I've not bitten for about... 5 months now? I'm good. (That, and it's so unhygenic in nursing..)

thanks for the mention hunnie xx.. I know you can do this and you will have stunning nails for your wedding day xx
ReplyDeleteThank you for the shout-out... I have to say, I have found it very empowering to stop. Such a good and HARD choice actually. But seriously - you look prepared. For me - strengthener, colour and my nail file are key (still!)... the file helps to stop me biting when things chip (which your nails will, because they are probably quite weak - like mine) and then the colour will do two things - give you something else to do with your nails, and also remind you what you are doing!
ReplyDeleteI am totally barracking for you!
Good luck! I've bitten my nails for years too. You don't even realize you're doing it... until you look down and see nail carnage. I try to keep my polished, preferably with dark polish, so if it chips it looks kinda gnarly.
ReplyDeleteI've just started reading your blog, and I love your style! Good luck again!
